Gears of War 2

Unreal Tournament 3 for the Xbox 360 gets its release date of July 7th, 2008. The cool thing about this release is its rumored to have exclusive footage from the upcoming game Gears of War 2.

We know this is a Gears of War 2 blog, but also have a great love for Unreal Tournament 3, we just got a hold of some new exclusive xbox 360 screen shots, see below.

With E3 around the corner (E3 – July 15-17, 2008 – LA Convention Center) looks like Microsoft’s lineup will include Gears of War 2, so we suspect a lot of new information about this game to come out during that time.

Seems like rumors are floating around the net as usual, but I would say this has some solid ground.  Sites are reporting that Gears of War 2 release date will be November 16, 2008.  Looks like this could be true since its slated for a November release, I would be either that weekend or the weekend of Thanksgiving here in the US.

Seems like EGM Magazine has a lot more information about upcoming Gears of War 2 multiplayer details and additional options such as the ability take a screen shot and upload it to the web, aka the way Halo 3 created its online community of web photos, videos and such.

I like to see more games take advantage of that, and I think it was sorely missing in GTA4, there has been so many cool moments in GTA 4, I wish I could of tivo’ed it back and saved out a video of screen shot…

Anyhow a bit more details:

• There will be a screenshot capture in Gears of War 2 which will allow players to upload the images they take to a website and vote on submitted images.
• The photo-mode scores you in-game based on the action around you (think, Dead Rising).
• During the playtest, EGM spotted an Xbox LIVE status message that said someone at Epic was in Gears of War 2 watching a video–not playing a game. Saved film possibility?
• Epic is considering implementing a live onscreen ticker that displays how much damage you are dealing and how many points you earn per match.
• Gears of War 2 may offer A.I. bots for multiplayer to help fill the new 10-man limit.
• The dev team calls chainsaw kills from behind, “Chainsodomy”

Still a bit unconfirmed but seems like some details have been leaking out on the net slowly about Gears of War 2 Multiplayer. The news seems to be coming out from a upcoming video game magazine that comes out in the UK for the Xbox 360. They seem to give away some information about new multiplayer maps for Gears of War 2 and potentially multiplayer game modes.

This is still a bit unconfirmed and keep a close eye on our blog as we try to get down to the bottom of this.

Here is some of the information we have heard so far:

• Five vs. Five online Multiplayer
• Halo 3 style match making system
• Might be some respawing game modes.

Multiplayer game modes that might show up in Gears of War 2:

Guardian game mode:

A remade version of Gears’ Assassination game mode where the objective is still to kill the other team’s leader, but players keep respawning as long as their leader is alive. Opponents’ leader will be marked on the HUD to keep the game moving along.

Wingman game mode:

You and a buddy team up, sharing a single character model in this five teams of two game mode.

Meatflag game mode:

A CTF-style mode where the “flag” is actually an AI-controlled player who’ll wander the map and attempt to kill anyone who gets near. To “capture” him, you’ll have to first down, then escort him as a meatshield all the way back to your base, all while your opponents are trying to kill you and shoot at the “flag”. Because, if shot at enough, your meatshield flag will break free, go berserk and deal out the pain. Respawning will be featured in this game mode as well as stats for the amount of kills the AI-controlled flag dished out.

It seems that some people have taken what Cliffy B said in a recent video/interview to think that he made the statement that Gears of War 2 will have 4 player Co-op, while the news sites are buzzing with anticipation to break the story, we heard from Microsoft on this in an official statement.

Microsoft’s statement: “We have not confirmed the number of players in the Gears of War 2 co-op campaign mode. Cliff’s remarks in a recent GameSpot interview are being misconstrued.”

While we hope that their will be 4 Player Co-op the word is still out yet if this is true or not. Kids don’t believe everything you read on the internet
